Verde Weatherblocking Installation
Verde Weatherblocking is to be nailed to the nailer board using a min ¾" corrosion resistant roofing nail. To insure proper fit, apply slight pressure against the wood nailer while fastening the weatherblocking.
"Flat" type weatherblocking is to be nailed every 12" along the top of the nailer on both hips and ridges and overlap a min. of 3-inches. For a proper fit along the hip areas Verde Weatherblocking should be cut a min of 1" at every course of tile.
"Profile" type weatherblocking along the ridge is to be nailed every 12" in the pan section and has sufficient side overlap as to interlock at the barrel section of the tile. Hip weatherblocking for profile tiles to be nailed in two spots, overlap and coverage is dependent upon the hip pitch ranging from 3:12-8-12. Any weatheblocking material that protrudes above the nailer can be easily be trimmed off with a sharp knife.
Precaution should be taken in high wind areas, as designated by local officials, by caulking the leading edge of the weatherblocking to the tile and the side lap between the weatherblocking with an exterior grade silicon caulking. Care should be taken to insure that the installation of Verde Weatherblocking does not conflict with current tile manufacturer's recommendations for weatherproofing.
